An operator selling pilgrimage packages is really running four businesses at once: hotel rooms in two cities, ground transfers, tour add-ons, and the package itself. Most run them from a brochure site with an enquiry form and then do the real work over the phone, where nothing is tracked and nothing reconciles at the end of the month. The hardest part is that travellers rarely want the package as advertised. They come with a family size, a budget, dates fixed by the religious calendar and a view on how close to the Haram they need to be, and they want something built around that. It is the most valuable conversation the business has, and it was the one part that never made it into a system.
We built the four verticals into one platform rather than bolting them together. Hotels carry their amenities, cars carry their routes and transfers, tours carry their own inventory, and packages are assembled from components the operator already holds.
We gave the pilgrimage journey its own path through the site instead of treating it as a tour with a different name, because it does not behave like one. Standard packages can be browsed and booked outright.
Then we modelled the custom request as its own kind of booking. A traveller's requirements are captured on the site, and the request, the quote and the resulting booking stay in one record instead of scattering across chat messages, so the operator can see what was asked for and what was eventually sold.
Payments run through the gateway against a transactions ledger so money is reconcilable, and staff access runs on roles and permissions, so who can quote and who can only look are separate questions.
The operator ended up with the whole journey in one place, from the room and the transfer to the package itself, and the custom requests that used to disappear into phone calls now arrive as records the business can price, track and reconcile.
